Direct Force Field (DFF) was developed by Prof. Dr. Huai Sun and his collaborators.

The DFF project began in 2000, with its first commercial release in 2002. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive software package specializing in force field development and molecular simulation applications.

DFF supports research and development in both materials science and life sciences, providing tools for the development, validation, and application of molecular force fields.
